Code of ethics

Himalayan Learning works daily by a code of ethics that we always consider when making any decisions.

Our staff and volunteers in Nepal follow a simple code of ethics in their operations:

  1. Be accessible to everyone
  2. Implement child protection policies
  3. Use positive discrimination to target certain groups
  4. Regularly monitor and assess working processes
  5. Use local industry, skills, and customs
  6. Minimise our "footprint"
  7. Use environmentally friendly techniques and resources where possible
  8. Use fairtrade products and services where possible
  9. Work to eliminate the need for organisations like Himalayan Learning
When working outside Nepal we try to work by the following guiding code of ethics:
  1. Be accessible to everyone
  2. Implement child protection policies
  3. Use environmentally friendly techniques and resources
  4. Use fairtrade products and services
