Gardens for Children

I decided that I would like to try child sponsorship recently, though I have money at the moment I didn't feel comfortable with having a direct debit set up and paying so much monthly for years like the other charities seem to ask, so when I saw this charities website and how child sponsorship is run here, I was pretty impressed. I only wonder if £25 a year is enough to really make a difference to a childs life but having read through where the money goes, I can see that it must do and im happy to sponsor a child, which I plan to do shortly after posting this message. I was a bit unsure about doing this (I don't mean to offend anyone btw) as it sounded slightly 'too good to be true' and I simply had never heard of this charity but finding it listed on the Charity Comissions website via the link in the 'recommended others' section and seeing the article about Oliver on the BBC site, thats pretty much cleared up my concerns. Anyway, I wanted to say that I really like the way that the information in the 'what they get' page is displayed/explained, with the pie chart. I like that the site is quite clear and the text is easy to read. The only criticism I would say is that I had to go the sitemap link to find some things like the code of ethics and the recommended others page, which personally I would have thought deserved to be put somewhere more prominently on the site, under the 'about HL' section (unless it is and I just haven't noticed, in which case I apologise). I think that perhaps if the Charity Commission link and such like were more prominent then others who have similar concerns or are otherwise a bit unsure about whether the child sponsorship is 'too good to be true' would be able to see that this is a genuine organisation. Also I notice that on some pages the old price of £20 is quoted as the price of sponsorship, which is now out of date, such as here:- http://www.himalayanlearning.org/get-involved/index.php?fpage=13&tpage=52 (bottom paragraph, 3rd line). I'm quite good at proof reading and stuff, so if it would help ill gladly offer to check the site incase there are other inaccuracies (not meaning to be critical, hopefully there aren't, I'm honestly just offering to help). Its quite refreshing to see that this is clearly such a 'grass-roots' organisation and im quite excited about getting involved. I'm impressed with your website generally and, I guess I just wanted to let you know that :) oh and im glad that you accept PayPal, I use PayPal on other sites and its very convenient for me, it definitely added to the appeal of sponsoring. Perhaps adding a small PayPal logo to the bottom of the website template might also make other people be more interested if its more obvious that you take this form of payment, rather than only discovering this when you go to actually sponsor the child... its just a thought anyway.
