Statistics

Below are live statistics of Himalayan Learning's sponsorship program.

 Girls

 Boys
 39%

This is our current sponsorship ratio between girls and boys this year. Our aim is to provide two thirds of sponsorships to girls and one third to boys.

This is the current percentage of ages that we support. The high number of middle-aged children is due to the normalcy in Nepal for children to only attend for 1-2 years on average. Therefore we try to 'adopt' them just as they are about to leave. Most of the older children are girls with special talents that we are trying to keep in education for as long as possible.

 Orphan (no guardian)

This gives a rough idea of our childrens' guardians, please note that in Nepal mother and father are used liberally, in many cases these parents will not be biological parents, but rather aunties and uncles, step-parents, or adopted parents.

This shows what class our children are in this year. Class 1 is roughly the same as Year 1 in the UK, class 10 is the year that the School Leaving Certificate is taken which is similar to the British GCSE.

The children currently in the higher classes have mostly been with us since we started operating in 2001.

This shows the number of children sponsored in each school that we support. It is already out of date because we have more schools than this but they are not entered in the system in the UK.

This gives an idea of how many years our children have been with us. Each year, as we get more sponsorships, we start to support new children.

*Please note that because these charts are generated live, they round all numbers to the nearest whole percentage which may mean that the total percentage is a little over 100%
